Little Miss Sunshine

Also known as Little Miss Tiny, Miss Sunshine likes very much to make people around her happy and smiley. She used to frown a lot though.. perhaps still so, but as the years go by, smiles have earned their priority over frowns. :) She currently resides in Nottingham, in a little town called Beeston. But home is forever where her family and closest friends are, in the little island called Singapore!

Today was a brilliant day out to Cambridge! The place where our O and A level papers were sent for marking, where rumour has it that the British markers are darned frustrated during christmas, when they would rather be doing anything else but mark our much-dreaded scripts!

I experienced myself today life in Cambridge, even though it was only for a few hours. It's a very quaint town and somewhat medieval; traffic is horrific because the roads were built for horse carriages and not cars, so students usually travel around on bicycles. The cambridge river is famous for punting, which is Venice's gondola equivalent. A punt is a longish boat with a platform at the end on which the punter stands, and he propels the boat by sticking a really long pole into the water and slicing through it. The photos later will show how he does it! The river flows through the university and town; making cambridge look and feel all the more old-english, scenic, and altogether enticing :)

We visited many of the colleges, with names such as Christ, Trinity, Queens', Clare and St. Johns. The most famous of all i think was Kings College, where the Kings College Choir originated from. I think they still sing in mass everyday in the chapel, but didn't get to hear them.

Some of the dining halls look like a miniature of Harry Potter's.. you'll see in one of the photos below. Can u imagine students in long cloaks and dining at one of those halls, feeling all important and scholarly??? I just went "Whoo..wow".

Altogether, it's a really really beautiful and scenic area in england, a must see for tourists. Especially since Cambridge is well-known to be the place where the brightest in the country flock to, I left the place rather humbled and wishful about being a student there too. Oh well! I'm just really happy to have my friends with me today, enjoying the sunny but cold weather and walk around this quaint little town. Got to really thank our tour guide too, a 3rd year economics student, for his candid and humorous insights into the legends of cambridge.
