Hi guys! Im in Florence now, it's been a wonderful trip so far! Rome is such A BEAUTIFUL CITY. We saw the Pope on wednesday morning and heard him speak! It was really an experience of a lifetime, being amongst the HUGE crowd and followers at the St Peter's Basilica Square hearing his message! We got good seats even!! My frens took photos of him, i was too short heh.
Went also to the Colosseum, Roman Forums, Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps. The Colosseum is one of my fav spots.... heehee we took SO many photos there!!! will put them up when i get home/back to notts. By far the best is still the Vatican Meuseums, which housed the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo did his famous frescos on the ceiling.... it was.... jaw-dropping. So So magnificent! Cant remember when i last saw or ever saw any painting so intricate and amazing. Rome is definitely a place worth gg a second time! Hc got it right.... We just needed to soak up all that culture!
Today we went to the Uffizi Gallery at florence, and saw famous works such as the Birth of Venus and Leonardo Da Vinci's Adoration of the Christ. It was interesting, altho i felt there were too much art works for my level of art appreciation! The best part of the gallery which i loved was the works of Leonardo. He isn't any prodigy, he's a genius, in all sense of the word. My... just recently i bought "The notebooks of Leonardo" and now im inspired to continue reading it! Im wondering, is he The human being who has come closest to being omnipotent?
Later in the afternoon we went to the Piazza Michelangelo and had a wonderful view of florence and its bridges. Sunset was reallly really beautiful =)
Alright... need to zzzzzz soon! Tomorrow we're off to venice for 3 days! Heard that we'll DEFINITELY get lost. Streeets of Rome are the most confusing ever.... we've gotten lost several times heehee. Luckily there's a guy travelling with us 3 girls... whom everybody thinks is a '' very brave man'' hahahaha.
We're all doing fine and having fun together. Take care guys!
